Does anyone have a Rick with paint inside the slash soundhole from the factory? Or has anyone ever seen it before? There's one i'm looking to buy (white) that has black paint in the slash.

With all of the Ricks that i've seen, you may see a little clearcoat that has yellowed but not a colorcoat. I'm thinking refin. Longhouse, do you mean black paint on the sides of the f-hole? Thats normal. I think that John B. was talking about paint on the inside back of the guitar that can be seen thru the soundhole. Does that even make sense....?

Makes perfect sense. I don't think Rics are supposed to have black on the inside from the factory (never say never...) but I've seen plenty of fakes with black-sprayed slash holes

Can't say in my 20-odd years of Rickenbacker watching I've ever seen one with a painted sound hole.

I know fakers notoriously have had the black innards, but this does not appear to be a faker.

John, the guitar looks real to me. However, a previous owner may have done it himself, thinking that the blacked-out soundhole looked good, especially with the black guards. (Three commas in one sentence, wow.)

I think we should pause...and reflect.

Very possible. The seller insists that the guitar has never been refinished. I wonder if it's possible that the braintrust at Electro thought the blacked out soundhole would look cool against the white finish?

Regardless John, that is a great looking guitar!
I've never seen a Rick with paint in the sound hole but on that guitar it could go either way.

My 360 Tuxedo SPC had white paint inside the soundhole.

The 330 is legit, IMHO. The cavity, as JWilli said, might have been colored in by a previous owner, or by the factory. Either way, it takes nothing away from it.

Agreed totally, Stan. I just wanted to be sure that it hadn't been refinished.

PW, got any insight here?

I don't think that white switch tip is stock either

The black actually looks pretty cool on this, contrasts well with the black PG/TRC.
