I started recording Beatles songs to see what I could learn about their songwriting and production techniques. This is by no means a perfect take, but here it is for your perusal and possible enjoyment. The bass is a Rick 4001c64S.

Not bad at all!
A little over produced, considering the original.
Too much reverb and not clean enough (to mimick the production).
I will say that it is a great listen though!
Covers do not have to be a replicate to be good.

David,

That's one of my favorite Beatle tunes. Your version is very very good. You absolutely nailed George Martin's tempo and cadence on the piano solo. I suppose that if I were in a critical mood, I would also point to the production side of your project. However the musicianship (which is a very important element) was superb and that to me defines this recorded work.

A well conceived effort all around as far as I am concerned.

Excellent job. Wunnerful musicianship. Nice harmonies. How'd you record the drums?

Thanks for the kind words!

I "typed" the drums into Sonar, ie, entered the notes in with the mouse in the staff view. They are midi, driving their proprietary drum module "Session Drummer". I know they aren't perfect, but my midi skills are almost zero. I also typed in the piano solo, which is played through a SampleTank piano sample.
