So kill me - I like em'.
So many great songs came from this band as far as I'm concerned:

Rockin' Down the Highway
Long Train Runnin'
It Keeps you Running
Don't Stop To Watch The Wheels (from Minute by Minute)- I mean - check out the main guitar riff in this tune 8)
Takin' it to the Streets
China Groove
Jesus is Just Alright
Listen to the Music
and so many others

I have always liked The Doobie Brothers and It's safe to say that they are one of the few bands where there are two very distinct camps; those that like them and those who do not. There are not too many listeners that remain undecided about whether they like them or not. I wish I knew why they attract such a strong reaction in either case.

I'm in both camps, I like their songs to a degree, but don't really like them.
Probably they seemed so...pro to me, like, c'mon how could so many good players not sound good.

The early Doobies were great - as rocking as any band in the early 70's. Inever cared for them after about the fourth album.

My mom went to high school with Pat Simmons, who wrote Black Water. Back then he had hair down to past his knees and was a year behind my mom. They had some good tunes for sure.

I remember hearing "Jesus is Just Alright" on the radio and then later seeing the band live and thinking that is a gutsy and a great band. They had the fortitude to not only record a song like that but to have it become a cornerstone of their early stage act.

This was a band who decided to let the world know who they were as people, no matter how it might affect them on a personal level, through their music. They took chances and I among many others recognized that and applauded them for their courage and inner strength. Not to mention their incredible music.

These guys were incredible live and they still are as this clip demonstrates.
