If you've noticed, Peter, I've sold off all but 1 of my black basses. For as much as I adore the none more blacks, I have fallen in love with the mid-80s Rics. So now my thing is that era with black trim...of course the exception is the bass above which is an early 90s model, but I am always on the lookout for the split pickguards and black trim. Thems is my focus.

Happy Birthday Sean!
Very nice bass. You should be happy with it. Pickups should sound a little different than your early 80's 4003s. Should be a little hotter and more growly and have less high end.
You should try the late 80's 4003's as well. Sounds and feels like an early 80's 4003 only the truss rods work.

I have a red '85 4003 with BT that is absolutely wonderful. It plays perfectly and sounds great. I bagged it on a $700 BIN a while back.
