Two Minutes Of Genius

No more walks in the wood

No more walks in the wood
The trees have all been cut down
And where once they stood
Not even a wagon rut
Appears along the path
Low brush is taking over

No more walks in the wood
This is the aftermath
Of afternoons in the clover fields
Where we once made love
Then wandered home together
Where the trees arched above
Where we made our own weather
When branches were the sky
Now they are gone for good
And you, for ill, and I
Am only a passer-by

We and the trees and the way
Back from the fields of play
Lasted as long as we could
No more walks in the wood

One of the few bands in the world that have perfect harmonies. It's too bad for fans like me that they don't have perfect harmony in the band. I am afraid that we probably missed out on a lot of great music that they might have made together, (if they could only get along with each other) rather than release merely good songs and albums as solo artists. This is one band where the whole is infinitely greater than the sum of the parts.

I have this CD. It is one of their best yet.

The Eagle's harmonies are outstanding, Brian. In the case of this song, while a beautiful example of their vocal talents, the layering is so extensive that I find the melody becomes difficult to follow. While following Henly is a good guide to staying on track the whole seems to trump the parts.

As an aside, this new CD package is at our local Walmart for $11.99. I was surprised by this price. What do you make of it?

CD pricing seems to be all over the map these days. I suspect that the price at Wal Mart is an indication of its current price point for that particular CD. I can only conclude that it is not a very popular album.

They produced the CD with their pwn company, rather than the typical record label system and struck up an exclusive agreement with Wal Mart to distribute/retail it. Fewer middle-men = more profit and can allow a lower retail price.

Thanks for replacing conjecture with the facts Todd. Now we know the answer.

It seems quite a number of artists are striking deals with Wal Mart these days.
