The current production nuts should work just fine. You may have to shape it a bit to fit but it will be pretty close to start.

Thank you for the answers.
I can't order from the factory because it doesn't ship to Italy.
Do you know any sites where can I find it?
Thank you!

I ordered a white nut for my 79 4001 and found the D and A strings to be too low. I put some baking soda and super glue in the slots and then "filed" them down a bit. It works fine for now. The new nuts are also slightly wider than the old necks, unless I set mine completely wrong (that's always a possibility

).

Ryan has hit on an important point. Dale Fortune has posted to use bakelite powder and superglue to build up the offending slot then file to the level you need. You should be able to find any piece of bakelite in Italy and do this, and keep the original nut.

I make my own Bakelite power from old Rick nuts. It does work to fix over-filed nut slots.

So, what kind of tree do Rick nuts grow on? And don't say bakelite!

They come from the Ancient Fan Bakatilus tree.

Also known as the Phenolic tree - genus polyoxybenzylmethylenglycolanhydride. I believe originally found in Germany....

Can I use an old bridge pickup mounting plate? I'm pretty sure I heard that those are also made of Bakelite. I could make a whole lot of Bakelite powder with one of those!

And what kind of super glue would you use? Regular Krazy Glue? Gel Krazy Glue? How do you work with it before it sticks to everything?
