On pins and needles--new acoustic 12 on the way!

I haven't felt this giddy while waiting for a guitar to arrive since those times I waited for my refins to come back from Paul W's shop! I've been shopping for a good 12-string acoustic in recent weeks, and this is the one that my hubby found and pulled the trigger on.... I sure hope it sounds as amazing as it looks--I think it will be a good counterpart for my 6-string Comstock! I think it's supposed to arrive by this Wednesday.

The waiting is the hardest part!

Breedlove's are excellent acoustics. (Ahem, I tend to play acoustics more than my electrics). Great purchase!

Congrats on the Breedlove, Melissa! When I was shopping for an acoustic recently I a Breedlove was my first choice until I came across this:

Ohhh yeah! Those inlays are wild! STUNNING! :D

I checked out the Breedlove website, and they've got some outrageous inlays too, on their super high-end models....

I happened to find this Larrivee used at Heights Guitars; I looked at a bunch of nice acoustics but that one just said "take me home" like a cheap tramp at a meat market! How could I refuse? 8) It did take me a while to see past the vine inlay on the fingerboard and not hit wrong notes; if you come to RIO!!! I will have it there.

The Breedlove I was interested in was a Pro C25/CR, Herringbone model, very nice tone and playability. :D

OOOOOEEEEEEEE....

The FedEx guy just dropped my delivery off. I opened the box right away, and the case only felt slightly cool to the touch--I think it'll be safe to open it after the kids go to bed tonight! I am so excited about this guitar I can hardly sit still!

I may not be getting much sleep tonight!

A nice one, but why oh why does it look so sad? A bit of a smile never hurt anyone — or anything, even the bridge.
Congratulations!

Interesting observation, Sheena.... Maybe that's part of its appeal to me--I'm really kind of a melancholy artist at heart!

...But I do smile when I sing, 'cause it makes me happy.... :D

I couldn't wait another moment.... I opened the case a little bit early!

I am AMAZED. This guitar has exceeded all of my expectations by far.... As soon as I opened the case I was awestruck by the sheer beauty of the instrument, and the amazing flash of the abalone inlays all along the front edges and around the soundhole--they reflect every color of the rainbow! The quality of the wood is exquisite--the back and sides are astonishingly beautiful flamed maple.... This guitar is pure eye candy, and I don't think pictures can really do it justice.

It took a good 15 minutes or so to tune it, as it was completely detuned for shipping.... But once I got it in tune and struck a chord I was blown away by the sound: bright and shimmery and lush.... HUGE sounding, with lots of percussive boominess in the bass end and lots of sparkle in the treble range--Just like the sound of my Comstock, but with 12 strings....PERFECT! And the action is nice and low, just the way I like it. The fact that the fingerboard is a little wider than a Ric's doesn't even bother me, because it is so slender from front to back, and the finish on the back of the neck is so fine it feels like silk. I can't get enough of playing it right now. I already have a really beautiful-sounding chord progression which will be the framework for a new song.... This is by far and away the best acoustic guitar I've ever played.... I need to go and play some more.... I'll ask my hubby to snap a few pics.... I think I'm in love.........!

Fantastic Melissa. I'm sure it's alot easier to handle than the Guild you were looking at. I can't wait to hear it. Are you going to put a pick-up in it? I'm installing an LR Baggs LB6 in my J-45 soon - I'll let you know the results. Now go and make some lush and shimmery music!

Congrats Melissa! I almost pulled the trigger on a Breedlove 12 about five or six years ago but balked at the used price of $1300. Duh. I have regretted not getting it ever since. The Breedloves that I have played (many at Elderly) were just outstanding.
