G'day all. Does anyone have a suggestion for cleaning bakelite, as in polish to bring it back to life. Is there a cut and polish of some sort? Cheers Jase

The Steel Guitar Forum is the best source of answers for this question.
Post the question on the steel without pedals section and or search the archives.

I used regular car wax (Xymol) on a late 40's art deko bakelite table radio and it moisturized it and made it look really good.

Yeah, Zymol's got all sorts of natural oils in addition to the carnauba, and it'll soak into the bakelite and buff out really nice. No nasty solvents or fillers to turn white, either.

Good on ya fella's. I will try to track down some of this Zymol. I'm sure it will be under another name over here but I will check tomorrow. Cheers Jase

Nope, still sold Down Under as Zymol. Fellow Aussie forumites use it on their instruments for a great lasting shine.
