F hole? Also, since I can't read Japanese, I wonder what the story is with the cracks in the pickguard? What's Japanese for ballpean hammer?

Sweet
It looks like it could be a 325c58. None of the parts or the finish look old.

I would agree that it's a C58, yes. Probably a special order for someone in Japan. I don't know what they were trying to achieve with the choice in finish, but it comes close to a version of Autumnglo that was done in the 60's. There were some Export Rickenbackers finished like this, a reddish-center to black on the edges. 335-S, 345-S models.

The pickguard cracks are from closing the case down on the knobs that are attatched to a 2" thick body. How many have we seen with damage like this???? Quite a few by my estimation.

Personally, I'm partial to bursts that have a bit of, er, shading, or transition. The sudden "stripe" effect is alarming.

The case caused the cracks? Wow! Never had that problem with mine. It did get a little tricky when I added the Bigsby though.

I've not experienced any issues with pickguard cracking from the guitar being in the case. I guess maybe if there was weight placed on top of the case?
