... incoming!

I think that's a reasonable enough price that I should be able to move it on if I don't like it without taking a loss. I do like to "rent" basses for a week or two and then sell them, apparently. Anyone play one of these?

Hi Jake,
I've got a '72 Mosrite two-pickup post-Ventures Mark 1. It plays fantastically. The neck is very shallow and has a similar fretboard width at the nut. I have it strung with TI Jazz Flats and it sounds great - a real 60s thump from the neck pickup. Totally different to a Ric or Fender. You may need to get used to the fact that it is short scale, but the same size as a P-bass!
If you ever want to sell, try Japan - Ventures guitars and basses are hugely expensive there.

Cool, I'm trying to expand my tonal range a bit, so I'm excited to hear what this one sounds like. Plus I think they look kinda cool. As for the scale ... the fact that playing my Rick makes me a little lazy when I play my Jazz has me worried about what will happen if I get used to the Mosrite's scale. We'll see!

I got this yesterday and there's something very wrong with the pickups or electronics. I can get some signal when I play the G string, but virtually nothing from the other strings. I adjusted the pickup as far up as I could, and the pickup's not totally dead, but it's not playable. Of course the seller claims it worked fine when he sent it, and is being completely unhelpful.
It was also poorly packed -- one token 2x2 inch square of bubble wrap inside the case, leaving 2-3 inches of sliding room. The bottom strap button bashed a hole through the bottom of the case. It looks like I'm going to have to go to eBay/PayPal dispute resolution on this one. We'll see.
