There were some good ones last week, but last night was pretty bad.
Chikezie's "I've Just Seen A Face" was probably the best.
Several of the contestants admitted they had never heard the song they sang before.
(FYI for those outside the U.S: Idol focused on Beatles songs the past two weeks … heaven help us.)

Probably a good thing I missed the show. (I always do.) I can't think of a better way for one to soil one's self in public than to do a bad cover of a Beatles song.

Much to my dismay, my 5 year old daughter is fascinated with that show. Though when first she heard them doing Beatle songs, she was outraged! I did catch her trying to punch the phone number to vote!!!!
I avoid that show like the plague, and have told my daughter it dosesn't represent real life.
However, I walked into the room just as someone was singing "Blackbird".
As I have seen others do on this song, this woman was singing it as though she was imparting the Secrets Of The Universe.
It's just a fookin' folkie little song. Lighten up, people! Enough with the bombast!
Bad enough you're singing songs by brilliant people who would never make it past the auditions for that wretched show.
It's karaoke. You are being judged by people who demand last year's status quo!

They used to have "Beatles" night on "Australian Idol" a few years back! Not any more!
Some of these kids not only hadn't heard these songs, they were also dismayed that they were reduced to singing 60's oldtimers music!
And, yes, you guessed it, they soiled themselves trying to cover a Fabs classic!
"I saw her standing there" reduced to a slow caberet beat, and sung by the cheesiest little twerp youve ever seen! OMG.
One exception....Shannon Noll did a magic version of Hey Jude!

I can't watch that show...
I can't watch any of the competition or "reality" shows.

Luckily, back to back re-runs of Get Smart are on at the same time as A.I. here.

I didn't think it was bad the last two weeks. It's fun to see what people can do with all our favorites!
The only song I saw that I didn't like was Kristy Lee Cook's interpretation of "Eight Days a Week". I couldn't ever see that song as a country song, and it made me want to not listen to the original again. She would have benefitted from singing something like "I've Just Seen a Face" if she wanted to go country.
Chikezie has done very well with the numbers he's chosen. Shame no one touched "I Call Your Name", "Can't Buy Me Love", "I Need You", "Help!", "I'm Down", "Rain", "If I Needed Someone", "Revolution", "Hey Jude" or "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". Those would have been good songs to hear them (try to) sing.

When A.I. is on, I prefer the Cone Of Silence.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't stand that crummy show!
