Very interesting bass. It's like 75% NOS, but it has the stain, rusted jackplate, a little moldy by the tailpiece, rusty pickguard screws...otherwise it's incredible.

The Grovers look like they are right out of the box. The pickups, especially the bridge one look brand spankin' new. IMO, the bass was played very little(has some fretwear from using freteaters, I mean rotosounds), and stored poorly. Not positive of what caused that stain but, it just doesn't really bother me. Gonna change the strings to flats, clean it up a bit, and call it a keeper.

Case is non-original. Nice shape, but looks like for a P-Bass or something.

Really nice maple, with flame figuring too. I still say the binding was repaired at one point and then covered with a different sealer (nitro?) to cause that darkening. Love the skunk stripe with the CB!

Nice bass. That discoloration sure is a mystery. Nonetheless a very nice bass....It looks like it was packaged very well.. :D

Very possible. Just can't see obvious signs of overspray. I guess that's the odd thing about the bass. The binding aged, but the rest of the bass didn't? When I tok off the treble pickup surround to put the cover back on correctly, I was in shock. It looked like a brand new higain with the screw bobbins. Impossible. When I tiook the pickguard off, seemed like it was the first time it was removed.

Maybe I can figure out a way to get it to Rio in June, or the latest Marf in the fall for more opinions.
