Could I get an estimate on what a 1973 4001FL in new never played condition is bringing these days ? This is one of those deals where it purchased new at Manny's in NYC in 1974 , and spent the last 34 years under a bed in a HSC and really was never played

OH GOD NO.......... :D

Hey Gerry, WELCOME to the forum!

I don't know, but I'd LOVE to see pictures of it. That would also help with finding a value.

Be patient, I'm SURE this thread will get a lot of attention...and a lot of opinions.

That depends a lot on exactly when in 1973 it was made -- do you have pics? The two letters at the beginning of the serial number will also determine the exact month. Any 1973 in great condition is going to command a nice price, but the early ones are significantly more valuable.

Welcome Gerry,

I have a Fireglo 73 FL in great original condition.

If yours has the checkered binding, toaster and split piece bridge it's going to be worth more than if it doesn't.

Putting a $$$ value on these are hard, as not as many people want a fretless, however, in new condition you should have no shortage of interest.

We need to see some photo's!

Gerry these are great basses. My '73 FL MG has a magnificent sound especially after I shunted the cap. Hope you don't have to sell it but if you have to..well we all know about that. Good Luck!
