Has anyone out there tried their Ric with a '65 Fender Deluxe Reverb Reissue? I have a chance to get one at a resonable price, but I wanted to get some Forumite's opinions.

i have a '65 Twin Reverb Reissue ...i dunno the difference with the Deluxe Reverb, but is certainly
a perfect match for my 360/12 and 325 ....super clean and jangly

Gave myself the Deluxe Reverb Reissue for Christmas. Perfect for my 370/12 (toasters). Don't need pedals or a JangleBox. Am going to try it with a recently purchased 360 (Hi Gains). It is a fantastic amp for any guitar. I have a Heritage archtop and it is unbelievable. I posted a similar message earlier but I usually bring up the treble on the amp and then roll it off on the guitar. Reverb at 7, tremolo controls at 3. It rings clean and sweet. Now I understand why the original was used so often in the studio. You can hear so many records when you play it!

I have had my 65 Deluxe Reverb now for two years and I'm very pleased with the sound I get . I own one in the 1960s but sold it years ago.I've played my RICS through Line 6 and Marshalls and they don't sound as good .

BTW, the SFDR has Altec Lansing (alnico) speaker.

I have both the '65 Deluxe Reverb re-issue as well as an original '73 silverface that is my main gigging amp. All my Rickenbackers sound great through both of them. In fact, before buying it, I auditioned my used '92 360/12 at GC through a Deluxe Reverb, and the store staff came over to find out what that great sounding combination was emanating from the guitar section.

Jim, I had the same experiance at a music store with my 360-12.
I've raved on about the RI Deluxe Reverb on several other threads. I've had it for almost 5 years now and still love it. I have owned a lot of Fenders over the years, this amp is second only to the 1965 Super Reverb I had years back.

I second this. I have one and love love love it.

Unfortunately, the internet police at the office won't allow access to youtube. I do have "Mr. Tambourine Man" recorded with my 370/12 RM and the '65 re-issue in a WMA file on my computer that I can attach to an e-mail.

I have found the Deluxe Reverb Re-issue to be a great amp for my Ric 360-6,and 360-12.At first,I was quite dissapointed with its average/mediocre tone,but soon discovered that the DRRI really comes alive when turned up a bit--not overly loud but at about 4 and above on the volume.What I like especially with the amp,is that it doesnt really remain "blackface clean",but does smoothly start to breakup at reasonable volume( you know-- a bit past "bedroom" volume
I have an interesting,and ongoing battle between which of my amps gets to be my #1 rig.The DRRI vs. Vox ac30 ('92 model) vs my two Tweed Pro Jr.s. Each rig has its merits for sure,but the DRRI is slowly working its magic on me. I havent even done much upgrades on it yet,except to bring the reverb/trem over to the first channel.I can start to imagine,though,what a Deluxe Reverb might sound like with better quality components.I upgraded my Pro Jrs. a little,and was quite suprised how much better the tone can get with better caps/resistors etc.etc.

I absolutely LOVE my '65 Deluxe RI!

That is exactly what I've heard - that the DRRI has a great clean sound at moderate volume and a soft breakup when boosted up. Perfect for RICs, Telecasters, etc.

I've heard the Twin Reverb is also like this but it is a much more powerful (and much heavier) amp only needed for very large venues.

ive had one for 10 years. sounds great with the ric but i only like it below volume of 5...other wise i much prefer my twin reverb reissue if playing with a drummer. for recording or general at home playing, i use the DRRI along with an AC15cc. I use a redfang speaker and JJ tubes in the DRRI, btw.
