Hey All,

I recently saw a '76 MG 4001 that had a chrome pickguard and a chrome truss rod cover. Upon first insepction, I thought they were after market but as I looked closer they seem to be factory issue. Has anyone seen anything like this before?

Cheers, Mike

Chrome guards are readily available on the aftermarket. The TRC, however, is not factory, nor it is readily available. If it was, in fact, chrome, was it flat with black lettering, or did it have raised letters?

It is possible to vacuum-plate a raised-letter TRC. It's also possible to vac-plate a flat one or plate a metal one, in which case the "Rickenbacker" script lettering would have to be applied.

The first type of TRC is likely to be genuine, although only a close inspection will eliminate doubt; the second type would be considered a counterfeit and violation of RIC's trademark.
