Great song by one of the best bands ever. In the early days when they recorded on Slash they played many shows with The Blasters..wow!

I missed this post for some reason.
Los Lobos = The Wolf
They are good musicians. Not one of my favorite bands overall, but I did enjoy the Ritchie Valens songs that they recorded for the soundtrack to the film La Bamba, including the title track. La Bamba incidentally became a hit for single them.

Technically, Los Lobos = The Wolves (plural).
I'm with Brian, I really liked their work on the La Bamba soundtrack, but their music otherwise to me is a bit too "countryfied."

There was a huge roots thing going on in the clubs out here in the early '80's, saw them, Dwight Yoakum and others before they got big. That was an exciting time.

I have to agree with this statement from the July 07 issue of Acoustic Guitar magazine.
Individually, and as a group, the enduringly popular band Los Lobos has integrated a boundless array of musical influences into its unique sound: blues, psychedelic rock, soul, pop, folk, jazz, country, Tex-Mex, and traditional Latin folklórico.
Besides any band that has a lefty among them get another +1 in my book.

I got into this band back in '83 along with The Blasters, X, Dwight Yoakum and that whole Roots revival that was taking place out in LA. I picked up a 7 song EP called ...and a time to dance on the Slash label that was a mix of Roots Rock and Conjunto music. I believe that I also have How Will The Wolf Survive? somewhere in my recordings.
Great musicianship in this group with the likes of Dave Hidalgo, Cesar Rosas (the lefty) and Steve Berlin and some really well written songs to boot. If all you're familiar with is the La Bamba soundtrack, you need to dig a little deeper into their catalog. Find a track called "Don't Worry Baby" from How Will The Wolf Survive? and give that a listen - if you ain't rockin' in your seat ( to quote Fats Domino ), you just can't rock!
