I've been using them for a couple years now and am happy. I suppose I could get higher quality strings, but as often as I change bass strings, I've not noticed an overall difference between these and anything else I've had over the years. And if they turn out to not be your cup of tea, not much money lost at all. I do have to say their customer service has always been very personal and stellar to me. I've ordered them on a Saturday afternoon and they showed up on Monday in the regular mail.

Bruce, how long will the rounds hold a decent tone?

Depends upon how hard you play, how often, and what tone you like. For my rock band I prefer new bright sound. For my country band I can get away with murder on letting the strings sit a long time. I just finished a stretch that included a long night in a bar with the rock band, three rehearsals with them, and a couple long nights with the country band. Probably time to change them as they've lost the brightness I like. And I'm using webstrings' extra light 5 string set (.35-.110). For a comparison, that's not off the mark from how long it took D'Adario XLs to lose the tone I liked from them.

I wish they offered Ric guage bass strings 45-55-75-105. It would be great to stock up for less and change strings more often.

With all of the Rickenbacker bass players out there, you'd think there would be more manufacturers offering that set of string gages. An unmet business opportunity?

Looks like I can finally try out flatwound bass strings without taking out a mortgage on my cardboard box!
