Just learned that Atlanta guitarist/vocalist Sean Costello was found dead in his hotel room yesterday afternoon just one day shy of his 29th birthday. Cause of death is still pending. Sean was a very talented player and was one of the rising performers on today's Blues scene. He first made a splash when he won the IBC in memphis as a 14 year old kid and his first release, "Call The Cops" with his then band The Jive Bombers caught the attention of many. He will be missed by many. Rest in peace, Sean.

Yes he was, Brian; damned good and destined to be huge on the Blues scene. I should correct myself and say that Sean was actually 17 when he won the IBC and released "Call The Cops!". He was also the boyfriend of Susan Tedeschi prior to her hooking up and marrying Derek Trucks. Sean appeared on her debut release on Tone-Cool, "Just Won't Burn", and was a member of her touring band.

Such a terrible tragedy and a serious loss to the genre. It's still unclear as to why he was in a hotel when he lived in Atlanta, but I'm slowly getting info that sheds some light on things. :(

His death is a tragedy and a loss to music. He was an excellent player. He came to St. Louis about twice a year and I never missed a show.........somewhere I have a pic posing with him after a show.
