Looks like a Hofner Club in the background as well, cool. White jazzmasters are one of my favorite kinds of Fender.

I don't think that's a club, it's too big and too late in their career. Most likely some obscure brand.

That's one of my favorite JM finishes as well. Definitely a different guitar for JL!
I like models with the small peghead and the headstock painted to match the body even more.
I was at the "Bordello Bar" for a club night called "Satisfaction", last summer and I saw a guitarist in a surf band playing what would be the ultimate Jazzmaster for me: the same finish as the above guitar, with block inlays and neck binding, as well as a small peghead with the headstock painted white to match the body. I had thought that would always be the ultimate JM, but had never seen that exact combo until that night at the club. I didn't have the chance to ask the guitarist about the guitar, but I think it must have been a U.S. Custom shop model. The only JMs with neck binding and block inlays that I had ever seen prior to that had the larger headstock, never the small headstock. This was a spotless, new guitar.

I believe this picture was taken in '65 while they were shooting the snow scenes in Austria in Help. In the new dvd of Help, Richard Lester talks about how after filming they were at a lounge in the downstairs of the hotel they were staying at, and decided to jam using the equipment that the lounge band was using.

I know it's not actually one because I have one, but it does look like one. It makes sense if the photo was from the Help shoot, I'd guess that there would be some Hofner look-alikes around that area of Europe.

Yes, except it had a tortoiseshell pickguard.
My condolences.
When was yours made and where?

Is that the same guitar Elvis Costello plays?

In some ways a bit of a Casino vibe with the P-90s. A terrific moment and a reminder that a number of their recordings may have used instruments such as this one.

Jazzmaster pickups are very far removed from P-90's, Peter. The similarities end with the cosmetics.

Man, I wish I could go hang out in that photo for awhile.
The things some people have seen, the stories they could tell...

the other guitar player featured in the pictures is Jacky Spelter.
Notice his name on John's guitar.
