Well, I did it. I won a slightly used but perfectly running (or so I'm told by the seller) Janglebox on Ebay yesterday and it's being shipped out tomorrow priority mail. They come up so infrequently on Ebay. I bid the highest amount where it would still make sense for me to buy it used and not spring for a new one. I got into a bidding war with someone and he capitulated. I can't wait to use it on my next gig, May 3.

Congrats! Seems like most folks really like 'em.

Funny, I never use compression on a six string guitar, but I'll have to try it out.

I love mine, but do use it primarily with my 360/12 or 370/12. I wonder when Steve is going to update the sounds on the Janglebox website? It's been over a year since the "coming soon" blurb has been there with some tasty tunes and guitar models I want to hear using the Jbox.

I would say that there's compression on the majority of recorded guitars from nearly every genre (probably excepting DIY punk and metal) over the past 40-50 years, including 6-strings, 12-strings, basses, etc.

I thought Paul played guitar on "Fixing A Hole"?

Sounds like a Paul lead.

I use my jangle box like a stomp box 6 string solo boost live occasionally.

+3. Sounds like a McCartney lead to me as well. There was a lot of flanging/phasing used on Fixin' A Hole. On the whole album for that matter. They ran all of their recordings thru a Companion system which added compression.

The JB is a great little unit. How you work the settings might determine how much you like it...or don't.

All I care about is that it sounds good with my 330-12. That's probably the only time I'll use it. I tend not to like compression on a six string and that's why I won't use a Marshall amp. They pinch your sound too much.

yes janglebox is the thing have fun with it! i have one for set 12 string and one set for my esquire. i sometimes link them for recording of some space sounds much like some Honeycombs 60's recordings.i outshines about any compressor out there in its class for bright sounds and life of battery.

The JB is very very cool. I just recently got one off of Craig's List, used for a great price.

Sounds incredible with my 360-12. Really magical to bring out the Jangle when using the bright switch. I took some advice from the McGuinn DVD and tried it direct into the recording board with just a little bit of 1 K EQ boost, and WOW! Really quiet as well. Add a littel outboard reverb or delay and its absolutely amazing tone. Clear, clean, and bright.

Also sounds wonderful between guitar and clean amp.

Congrats! They are hard to find. I don't think too many people let go of theirs once they begin using them...

My best Ric sound is the 360 or 330 through the JB, into a delay, and then Fender Hot Rod Deluxe with a little dirt. Awesome sound, which I couldn't see being any better.

The JB arrived the other day and it is truly amazing! I have FINALLY nailed the McGuinn sound I have been after for years. I love this pedal. The sound is so transparent-not one of those idiotic compressors like the Boss CS-3 that pinches and constricts your sound to death.

Steve...I agree. I was playing around last night with my 330-12, my HR Deluxe and the JB. I added a touch of delay and a little dirt, and there was the right sound for "I Can't Explain" by The Who, which we do live. I'm going to have a lot of fun with this pedal. Now, I'm learning "When You Walk In The Room" by The Searchers, and that sounds great with the JB too.

I am very happy with mine, and find it unfortunate that RIC has such an issue with them. I find mine very usable, and an important tool in getting those great 60s tones, Rick or not.
I own several compressors both rack and pedal, from $30 to $500 dollars, and for what it does, it does perfectly IMHO.
