Lapsteel price, good or not?

I saw this on ebay when trying to find a logo for my own lapsteel of the same type.

I paid $150 bucks for mine. Admittedly, mine is in rough cosmetic condition, but the pots and cap were untouched and aside from a minor repair I needed to do to the pickup south wire, the insides were in good shape.

I do need to try and find some original style bakelite knobs for it though. The ones I have are cracked here and there. It would be nice to put originals on it, or at least something that looked original, so I could bag up the old ones and save them from further damage.

I think $900 is way too much for that postwar NS. The prewar Model 59 is a better sounding instrument and more collectable. They sell in the $700 range for ones in excellent condition. In fact I have a superb Model 59 that I would be willing to sell, if you are in the market.
The flying saucer knobs that are original to that instrument are impossible to find.
I understand that Rick Aiello has made some repros, although I'm not sure. You might be able to contact him through The Steel Guitar Forum.

If you're not familiar with this site, it's terrific for all things steel guitar.

Gentlemen, we're treading on ground that should not be covered in a public forum.

The part you are discussing making is protected by RIC's trade dress registrations and the discussion of making one of these would give potential counterfeiters a leg up and give the folks at RIC a lot of trouble.

Paul is exactly right here. You will notice edits as the RRF takes RIC trademarks very seriously. In this case we are talking about the RIC nameplate and I would ask that you refrain from making such comments here.

Again... year old topic. Long dropped, long understood on my part.
