Sixth sense between Rickenbacker owners

Thought this was rather interesting.
Last night I went with friends to support another friend who was playing a gig with a band he had put together to do a tour. Not a Rick in sight. I wandered over to talk to the bass player and I heard my fellow band mate say, "Oh, I play a Tele and Sarah plays Rickenbackers". The man looked at me and said "Oh, you have good taste and like to be a bit different then." I said I was a big Ricoholic and then asked if he liked Rickenbackers too and he said "Oh, I love them, I have a 4001 which I bought when I was 17, but it stayed at home tonight" . At this point Bev gave a great sigh and said "I am not stopping here then, I'm off if you two are going to talk about Rickenbackers now!" Which of course we did, until I was dragged away!!!
Funny how Rick owners seem to have a sixth sense for another Rick owner.
Funny how when we get together, everyone else gives up with the conversation and leaves us to it.
Has anyone else had this experience?

...then come to RIO!!

Bring Graham and Peter with you while you're at it. Just make sure they sit as far away from each other as possible in the plane for the safety of it's passengers and crew.
(just something I heard)

Spend the whole summer here in the states like Aitch did in the fall of '06.

I get grief from a guitarist friend because of my blind faith in getting Ricks (i.e., getting one from someone here on their word that it's a good one). All her guitars are "custom built" for her (all look like Strat knockoffs to me...what do I know).
Her: "You've obviously never played a custom guitar."
Me: "You've obviously never played a Rick."
On to the next conversation.

That is very tempting. I am planning on 3 weeks already in different States. One positive thing about teaching though, it gives you time to do that.
In fact, more tempting is finding a job on your side of the pond. Anyone know of any nice schools/colleges looking for a Biology teacher from rainy England?

Yep! 9 weeks of fun and sun (except Cleveland.... no sun!). Er... and Grand Marais, too!
Hopefully it will be another five weeks this year commencing the last week of July!!
When I mention Ricks I often get a short patronising response because a lot of people over here have a mainstream mindset. When I start talking about my Strats and Gibbies they start to come to life. Especially the larger music stores.......

Sarah, can you afford the pay cut? And lack of respect?
All kidding aside, Kalamazoo 2 years ago announced a private anonymously funded scholorship program, the Kalamazoo Promise, where all graduates of KPS (attended K-12) get Michigan tuition paid in full, with a sliding scale for less years. Just this last week, a pharmaceutical research company here announced a 3300 job expansion in the next 5 years. So biology in the public high schools will no doubt become a hot subject.

Have you seen the cost of living over here?????

Have you seen the price of fuel. ALL TAX
I could have a much better standard of living in lots of States to work, even with a pay cut!! Except maybe California!! You are right though. I need a NICE school/college. I am spoilt at my posh "exclusive" girls school. It all sounds rather positive. Thanks for that.
Anyway, back to Ricks........ That makes me happy!!
