OK, so you first listen to an artist in the 1960s was uncomfortable or boring, so much so that you did not listen to them seriously for years. But did you ever go back for a second listen and if you did was your opinion any different?

In the beginning I was not a fan of Bob Dylan, however, songs such as Desolation Row and Like A Rolling Stone have taken on deeper meaning over the years to the point where I quite enjoy songs even sung by Dylan. So have I mellowed, sought deeper meaning or gained a little bit of wisdom? While I would like to believe that the answer is yes to all of these questions I am not sure of the answer.

I do consider that I now am able to place songs within a broader context which allows me to appreciate the merits of material that I once may have dismissed out of hand.

Who do you like know that you did not enjoy in the 1960s or it you are too young to know, what 1960s songs do you now enjoy that you did not when you heard them for the first time? I am interested in your thoughts and experiences in this regard.

Well, i do not really know how my short and nasty comment gave birth to such a great idea... but sometimes we never know.
As for me, it sometimes happened with the songs — like the Beatles' "I've just seen a face" and "Cry baby cry". As far as the acts are concerned... maybe Simon and Garfunkel, not that i didn't like them when i first heard them, but i grew to really love them only a few years ago. Oh, and speaking of S&G, when i first heard Art Garfunkel singing solo (do not really remember which song it was), i thought he was awful, but later on, my opinion about his singing changed dramatically.
Tom Fogerty doesn't count, i'm afraid, cause he started a solo career in early 70s.
Oh yes, and i used to dislike the Beatles as a teenager. And i mean dislike. Now it's not that bad — not that i'm a fan, far from that, but i do love some of their songs.

Bands I missed the first time around but picked up on later:
ZZ Top
Aerosmith
Queen
Also like many on this side of the pond, it took EC on the John Mayall and the Bluebreakers to get me into our native Blues.

Can't think of any I liked the second time around, but can think of many I can't believe I liked the first time around!

James Taylor. I was in to hard rock and blues in the late 60's. If it didn't have a whoppass electric guitar lead in it I didn't have the time.

When The Doors first appeared on the scene I thought they were overly indulgent and so so musicians. Not having a bass player in the band really turned me off. Now I consider them to be overly indulgent musicians who produced a few good songs.
