What model is this?

I am puzzled by the features on this model, esp. the dot neck:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... TQ:US:1123

I contacted the owner. The serial # VJ 27XX which would be October 1982 not "70's" as advertised.

Is this a "4000 + Neck p/p"? It looks kind of like a 4001V63. Or it could be a knockoff, look at the spacing of the tuning pegs on the headstock front. Odd.

I am not a bass nut, so maybe I am missing something. Any advice appreciated. I'm not going to buy it, just curious. :?

Being a 1982, it could be either a 4003S or a 4001S.

1975 4001S (top), 4003 WHT WT (bottom)

Do you have a better pic of that white on white? It's gorgeous.

Love that 4001s, the white's aged really nicely

Philip, here's another:
Feb 1998 4003 WHT WT with White Binding
Feb 1998 4003 WHT WT with White Binding
I like both the aged look as well as the new look.

Uhh... I think that's a battered MG 4003s, not white. Note that the back of headstock shot shows distinct grain difference between the centre and wings, which would be invisible if this was white.

As there's no skunk-stripe, it's a 4003s, not a 4001s.

I wasn't implying that the one on eBay was white ... I was just trying to show the two models side-by-side, and mine happen to be White.

Sorry Gary, my mistake!

I'm partial to that '75 white 4001s. That aged cream colour is very classy.

Yes, it's so cool! And uniform, too - it's the same color under the pickguard:
