Muffler problem

I own a 4001C64. When looking at the bass, the right side of the muffler screws up fine.....but the left side will not raise all the way up. The muffler almost hits the "E" string...just enough for it to buzz. If anyone has any info, that would be great.

Thanks,
Jon N.

Sometimes if you adjust one side quite a bit before adjusting the other side, that side may having trouble adjusting. Try adjusting the sides in ever increments.
If that doesn't help, you'll have to inspect the assembly to see why it is stuck. The plate might have to be adjusted into better shape.

If it's a used bass, a previous owner may have cross-threaded one side, making it difficult (if not impossible) to get it adjusted right.

Get a new muffler from Midas ... and a brake job as well.

Actually the mute pad can get stuck. The adhesive on the bottom will get stuck to the wood down there. So you may need to disassemble it, unstick it, and put it back together.

Yeah... I put a pair of Del Lorto 45/ICTs with velocity stacks on mine as well. Really helped make it growl.

I have it on good authority that "dell'Orto" is Eyetalian slang for "the a**hole". Can anyone verify?
