Paul W. tells me that I can sound much better using one of these strobe tuners to get that 'sweet' sound for my 360/12V64.
Currrently I use a little Sabine LED tuner, but constantly back and forth from flat to sharp at 440. I want it to sound 'sweet.'
Any suggestions or input would be appreciated......

100 degrees here already at 12.45 pm, I knew we should've got a central AC unit....

Gary, I use a Peterson Stroboflip. Reasonably-priced ($150.00 street) and they do turn up on the 'Bay from time to time.

These can be used for virtually any guitar, piano, autoharp, organ, synth, cello; anything that needs tuning. Plus, you can enter your own settings into the memory.

I, too decided to upgrade to a "better" tuner, and it's good value for $$$.

I have gone through a few tuners and the Stroboflip is well worth the $$$. If I didn't already have two Korg DTR-1 rackmount tuners I would get a Stroborack, also. The display does take some getting used to but it is extremely accurate once you get past that ø of ownership.

I know we're all RIC addicts, but on my tour of another guitar factory in Maryland, owned by a Mr. Paul R. Smith, I saw that every guitar that comes off the line get's played through a Mesa Boogie amp (a gift from a Mr. Santana)....and was tuned with a StroboFlip. My c63 never quite sounded right until I set it up with a full sized Petersen V-SAM tuner....after that it was magic!

Angry wife. I brought home a Lowden last night...

I have a Peterson Strobostomp & love it. I can't believe the difference between being in tune and really being in tune. I got it as a closeout item at the Perfect Bass.

As I went back to re-read this thread, and especially my comments, I want to be a little clearer since my original sentence structure left a good deal to be desired, and unfortunately open to some mis-interpretation.

I certainly did not intend to compare the the quality of factory tuning done at RIC with anyone else, which my post could have led one to conclude. Nor did I intend to imply that the tuning on my c63 was not "up to snuff." Any problem was with the tuner I was using, and the point I was trying to make is that once I got it on a high quality tuner, it started to sound like exactly it was supposed to.

Lesson learned - Don't let your wife's reminder that "Dinner's on the table" force you into hitting "Submit" prior to reviewing what you've written...even if your Father in law is visiting. OK....I feel better now.

I don't think anyone took what you wrote in the wrong light[show]. At least I knew you were referring to the incompetent tuner you previously used.

I have a Peterson 490 that I bought for tuning pianos. It works very well but I will say that if you use it in the Chromatic mode where it auto selects the note it takes a little time to adjust to the proper speed. If you select the notes on the tuner the response is instant. I have not tried the new Virtual Store units to any length but if they are as easy to read, with the same accuracy, and possible quicker response time , then I would consider one. The virtual tuner that kind of looks like a Fluke meter also has the capability of setting intonation on guitars featuring the Buzz Feiten system.

The Peterson virtual strobe (an LCD) seen in the Stroboflip has instantaneous response and is so sensitive that you can strum (don't pick or pluck) the string once and tune it to pitch while watching the strobe.

There are several pre-programmed pitch settings for the Feiten system, for both guitar and bass.

I tuned my just-rebuilt VOX Jaguar combo organ with the Stroboflip yesterday; it was a breeze.
