And one hell of a bass line. Anyone else heard of Toni Childs? I was googling info to an answer for the NY Times puzzle and one of her later albums came up, reminding me how good she is.

Yeah, I had to dig out her two cds I have at supper and have been listening all evening. Love her compositional sense also. What a feeling her songs invoke.

OMG!

John, you have EXCELLENT TASTE!

I found her YEARS ago, STOP YOUR FUSSIN drove me on a search to find her CD.

This song played over & over in my house after I found it.

It has a HAUNTING sound & beat that I just couldn't walk away from.

I'm AMAZED someone here found it!

VERY COOL!

Tony, I got Union back in 88 or 89 while in the BMG CD club. I just about played the digits off it. Tomorrow it is going onto the mp3 player - I digitized it tonight. Her song composition and arrainging, the sounds she gets, and her husky, throaty voice to haunt. How about "Zimbabwae", or "Where's The Ocean." I also really like "Let The Rain Come Down" and "Walk and Talk Like The Angels". Somehow I'm not surprised you know of Toni.....

Too funny John,

I can't remember when I discovered Toni, but I do remember I was going through a REALLY TOUGH time in my life. Two songs, both from different spectrum's.... STOP YOUR FUSSIN was an eye opener and somehow I found comfort in it, but what really hit home for me Peter Gabriel's "Don't Give Up". Love the bass line on that one too!

They were kind of my crutches during that time.

Hmmm, digitized huh?

Peter Gabriel - So. I about wore that one out too. Gotta love Kate Bush singing along on that one with Peter. That album had a lot of great songs too - like "Mercy Street". "In Your Eyes" was my favorite, along with IYE. I guess besides the music I listened to this cd and also DS's Brother's in Arms as they were both very well recorded and I was modifying CD players for sound quality and writing articles on how to do it at that time. Two cds I could enjoy listening to over and over and over and over..... you get the picture, as I changed a capacitor or op amp, or the bias point.

We are kindred spirits John!

I LOVE this DS song......

When that guitar breaks into that riff, at about 3:15 on the CD, it goes right through me!

Brian, try this one - such haunting beauty in the melody as has Zimbabwe, as the lyrics speak to what is tearing the country apart. Such juxtaposition.....
