Fix my v68.

As discussed in this thread, my v68 is having truss rod issues.

I need it fixed.

I would love to send the bass out to Paul or Dale, but I simply can't have it tied up for too long. I'm making a living with this bass right now!

So, is there anyone among us who would be willing to do the fixing? The catch is that I would need the work done in no more than one month.

Fire away!

Please?

John, sorry to hear about your truss rod issues...maybe this is an excuse to buy another Rick while you wait for this one to come back from Dale or Paul? :)
Sorry, I am NOT the man to comment on truss rods...it's an area I rarely have had to delve into (very happy about that...)

John, what about that little shop in Staten Island?

you could just bring it to a reputable shop in NY. If they've worked on truss rods in the past, they'll know how to assess damages and what needs to be done. As long as you tell them how you want it adjusted once it's fixed, they should oblige.

John, would it help if I brought my set-up and adjustment tools with me when I visit you guys in July?

Oops, should have updated this thread! I brought the bass to Chris Clayton at POTR and his fix seems to have worked so far! Unfortunately, I had to ditch the strings I was using - a heavy GHS flatwound set - and go with the lighter tension TI Jazz Flats.

Glad you got it sorted JB!. Jazz flats are the best!

I haven't been crazy about 'em in the past, as I always thought they were a bit too loose feeling. But I played a gig with them on the bass and it felt great. So far, so good!

I was wondering why you left us hanging!
I'm glad you've got it worked out now! :D

Low tension strings do take a bit of getting used to but in the end they allow for more expressive playing. Have you tried the TI Jazz Rounds?

Yep, I wasn't into them in the past. I liked the sound but was never into the feel. This is the first time i've tried 'em on the the v68 though (which had the same strings for about a year and a half) - seems to be a good combination.

I was reading this post thinking it would be a good idea to get a hold of Chris at POTR, as I'm sure if they didn't do it, he could steer you to the proper person to solve your problem. Then its like "Cool, got it handled!" I'm glad you got your bass fixed, and enjoy the music I have heard from you on your website. Do you sell CDs, or just the digital download thing?

In a somewhat related aspect of this topic, I currently have a set of TI flats on an inexpensive Yamaha fretless that totally made that bass shine. I got to trade some **** I got taken on using Ebay for it, and now have a cool little fretless to futz around with. Who knows, one day I might actually learn how to play it.

Hey John, glad it's back and fixed. Did Chris do the super glue fix? I though doing that was as good as new and string tension shouldn't matter? Paul W?

Were they the original rods?
