Why didn't anyone tell me how great Rics sound. I use to play an Ibanez and there was nothing wrong with that. Then one day my husband and I were at our local guitar store......I wandered off to look at basses. I had no intentions of buying a bass. I noticed this odd looking bass hanging on the wall. It was beautiful. I wondered how it sounded, so I picked it up plugged it in and played it for an hour completely amazed by the quiet.... I have no words to describe the feeling. But I know you all know what I am talking about. Then I looked at the price tag. I told my husband I was in love. His Reply,"Oh really, what did you find?" An already long story short. This bass is Awesome!!!!! By the way, I traded in the Ibanez.

Welcome!
Similar stories, 26 years apart:
I bought my first Rick bass exactly 26 years ago. When I went in to my local music shop back then I too, was an Ibanez player/owner.
But that unusual looking Rick bass just fit me like a glove. I had to have it. I put a down payment on it on the spot and put it on layaway until I could pay it off. I was 15 and made a little money that summer painting houses.
Bye, bye Ibanez! It was a good bass, but the Rick won me over and I've never looked back. I sold the Ibanez to a kid at school who played it for years.
Here's me and my first Rick (photo taken in 1985) and that same bass today after a restoration by this forum's own Paul Wilczynski:

This has been a challenge to upload pictures. I have been successful. So here she is! Obviously I am a novice photographer.

Very nice, Jacque. Don't worry your photos look fine. I've been trying to take decent pictures of my basses for years and they don't look any better than yours.
I need some Jeffrey Scott photography lessons!

I wish! The timing of RIO just happens to be really lousy for me.
