I got a bit fed up with the whole band thing at the end of last year and decided to take an indefinite break, but I still enjoy recording the odd song at home, and inspired by the recent arrival of my 330/12, I went all psychedelic for an afternoon.

You may have a point with "over-the-top". Lots of fun but I may do another mix and tone it down a bit.

Great vocal melodies, too - backwards reverb aside. I digs me some reverse reverb on vocals, too. Here's my psychedelia tune: Fantasy #29 in G major

That warms my cockles, man! I wish the words were more clear, and if you could add some warmth to the mix... I dunno, I'm a beginner myself going in the same stylistic direction but it's hard to get that analog warmth with the software instruments. My next project I think I'll revert to tape, especially for vocals.
Post-punk, psychedelia's appeal for us is more than esthetic, it's also nostalgic, and thus a rich literary opportunity. I use a lot of pop culture references. The thing for me is not to sound like a tribute band but to seem as a closet classic who hit the ground running... the words are so important, even in there meaninglessness.
Can I invite you to sample the lastest mix of my first computer recording, still in progress? Not to steal your thunder here, the two songs have a bit in common. It's very interesting to see how you play the game.

Very nice, and I like the swirling vocals and very middle slithering guitar! The chorus/bridge sounds very Prudence-y to me. Nice work brother...Listen up, talent in the forum!

'Twelve Two'- very good. It's got that 'spangly' guitar sound, that sounds like exceedingly rich fudge. And a smattering of reverse guitar. It's got a kind of Rain Parade meets Dandy Warhols meets Long Ryders feel about it. If I had a criticism it would be the drums lacking variation, but then I guess you just have to lay back and float away on the guitars!

Hats off too to Mr Walker's 'Fantasy in G MAjor'. Puts me in mind of the album Echo and the Bunnymen did after Ian McCulloch left, which is good. I know it's a bit like saying 'doesn't Middle Earth look like New Zealand?', but I think I need these sonic reference points... erm, thank you.

Mark - Absolutely! The drums are dead boring!

Kira - Purple Om! And, yeah, give us whatever you've got!

Rubén - I used a Boss BR-864 digital 8-track recorder as a recording interface and guitar modeller. I then uploaded the tracks into Cubase for all the rest of the production.
All the guitars are plugged direct into the recorder, using tweaked modelling presets - seriously! The clean sounds are very good if you have time to play around with the settings.

Again, thanks for listening. I intend to revisit and rework the recording one day. Will take on all your commenst and see what I can do.
