Hofner bass question

Hey guys,
I own a Hofner Beatle bass 62 reissue and I am needing the black plastic bridge pickup surround. I was just wondering if your "average joe" can change this or if this needs to be fixed by a guitar tech?? Thanks for your help.

Jon

I believe the pickup surrounds on the 62 are the same as what was on my Cavern bass. Loosen the little screws (there are 4 of them--one in each corner of the pickup surround) and carefully raise the pickup out of the plastic surround. The pickup surround should be held down on the body by 2 screws. Remove and replace the surround and put the pickup back in place and tighten the 4 corner screws Make note of the height of the pickup before you raise it out of the surround so that you can put it back the way it was. Good luck!
Geoff

I had the pickups out of mine briefly, and it's just like Geoffrey says. Should be a piece of cake, just be patient (it took a little bit of effort to get the pickups out, as they were in there very tight on mine).

Love that Blueburst, Gary!
Here's my "Jetglo".
Just did a recording last Friday with it.

While I own a very nice Hofner I don't really care for them(mine's a requirement of the gig), now that being said, I really dig Tom's new one:
