I let my friend play my Jazzmaster and after about 5 minutes he broke the "E".The strings I had on it were .9s.Which strings do you use on Jazzmaster? Would D'Addario Chrome flats work?Which gauge? Is .11 OK?

I've used both 11 and 10 gauge Chromes on my Jaguar. I prefer the 10's myself. They sound great and capture that sound of the early 60's era Fenders just fine.

Yeah, to each his own, but 9s sound way too light for a JM, especially with the JM bridge. I currently have T-I Flat 11s on mine--these "feel" lighter than the Fender Flat 11s I used to have, and in fact they do have less pull than other Flat 11s.

I know of quite a few folks who swear by the Chromes though.

When I had mine, I used Fender Original 150 10's. I never tried flats on it.

Chromes 11's for sure! If I still had a Jazzmaster, i'd try TI's as well.
