My first and, hopefully, last embarrassing national TV appearance may be 10PM (EST) Thursday (05/29) on A&E's "Crime 360". I've been on the local news numerous times (usually seen goofing around in the background of an incident/arrest/crime scene). I'm sure my acting debut will be heinous and I'll be mercilessly teased but it is what it is.

The description for the upcoming episode appears to be a homicide where I was the initial responding officer and had to assist in securing the scene and conduct initial interviews. When my supervisors and the homicide detectives show up I have to relay what info I have......which is fine and part of a normal day at work but for the show I had to make my initial statement a second time in front of the camera. Very unnatural and weird for me and I'm sure it will show.

I had to sign a release a few weeks ago and debated since if I didn't sign I'd still be on but my face would be blurred, which I'd find amusing for some reason. Anyway, I may be on the cutting room floor (fingers crossed) but if not I figure I might as well share my discomfort with you guys. Tally-Ho!

Congrats Brian,

It's not that terrifying I am sure you'll get through it. I have spent a good part of the last two years working with and rubbing shoulders with Hollwood North types: agents, directors, lawyers, actors, producers, grips, set designers, wardrobe, special effects people etc. They are all very helpful and loads of fun. The days are long though.

I wasn't so much terrified or nervous....it was more slightly annoyed. I just like to do my job, complete a task and move on. Having to repeat myself just for the sake of the camera (and act like the camera isn't there) was uncomfortable and not natural for me. My wife made the observation that it's funny that the camera makes me uncomfortable but I have no problem with the actual crime scene.

The camera guys were great.....I dealt with them over several homicides and they were always good to chat with (it was neat hearing about their jobs as well as BS-ing about mine when they had "unofficial" questions). One of the guys was involved in some "tornado chasers" series which made for some interesting conversation. I can also understand the long days......when the crews were on various scenes it would drag out how long we would have to hold down the crime scene by quite a bit so they could get all of the required footage.

It was neat to be involved and I like these type of shows.....I just don't enjoy being in front of the camera. Maybe if I lost 300 pounds and had some plastic surgery......but that's for my makeover special.

Well, I have watched the show twice now (while playing guitar). Did I miss you during a chord change (sometimes I have to look to hit that B7 chord) or did you indeed end up on the floor?

Cool! Better to be an officer on this type of show than a toothless crackhead hillbilly trying to kick out the back window of the police cruiser.

My rehashed interview was indeed axed (thankfully).....I can just be seen lurking in the background a few times. Pretty much how I prefer.
