Anyone have the full scoop on RIC's design changes for 2008? I've noticed the revised headstock shape on the guitars, and the full-width inlays. Have I missed anything else? Also, what's the composition of the new inlays? Might just be the pictures, but they do seem much whiter.

The body shapes are subtly changed; I suspect somebody tweaked the CNC files a bit. My 2008 330 is slightly wider in the lower bout and flatter across the bottom, and the horns are a tad more rounded, and I don't think that this can be accounted for in hand-sanding.
The new inlays are sheet material, instead of being poured. They're whiter, yet deeper-looking that previous poured inlays. But my faves are still the crushed pearl oldies, with the new inlays a close second.

Has anyone got a GOOD closeup on the new inlays? Something showing a bigger one and how they really look, not the washed white that usually shows up in pictures of necks?

The depth doesn't show up, even in closeup photos. Just like photos of the gorgeous flame on a MG 381. Or the Grand Canyon.

Go to page five...the new material has a bit of a wavy texture.

The new changes are a major improvement. I absolutely love them.

Thanks Daniel. I've seen that picture. I'd like to see a picture that is a closeup of just one or two inlays.

These buggers are difficult to photograph and get the true depth. This is as close as I could get after 30 or so shots of varying light.
By the way...they look tremendously sexy against a JG headstock and black TRC.

John, I've now seen the inlays in person several times - they don't just look bright and white-washed out in photos, that's how they really are! Really attention-grabbing from across the room.

Thanks Bruce, I appreciate it. John, I guess I need to see one in person. I'll call my GR dealer or wait 16 days - there must be one coming to RIO!!

Like I said...no depth when photographed. The 3D look only shows in person. But thanks for trying!

Hey, Paul W.: Are you using the new material in any projects?
Any idea how it would look after being "ambered?"

They look quite a bit different with amber. Brighter, more in line with the binding.
