I saw this auction on Ebay this morning.

This guys comment is an understatement.

I then decided to paint over the fire engine red with a questionable paint job.

No different really than what The Beatles did to their stuff in '67. While taking away value from the originality of the guitar, it's still kinda cool.....can't say I've seen another like it.

What the hell are those screws inside the sound hole, I wonder? Do they hold the paint on the back?

In any event, it'll be interesting to see how this affects value...

Kind of like a pastel version of the clown vomit picks.

Looks sort of like one of the Apollo space capsules after re-entering the atmosphere; scorched and flaking off paint surface.

I like the original RED finish underneath.

I would think that the screws are some sort of repair done to the back surface, but it's impossible to tell from the back photo.

Yeah I was wondering the same thing. Looks like the screws are holding a panel blocking the sound hole? From the shadows around the edge it seems the hole has no depth to it.

They look more like drops of paint than screws. They match the paint color and look like they are right where paint could have dripped in.

I contacted the seller via Ebay to ask about that, as well as the pickup mountings.

I think youse guys are correct--paint drips. Such neat drips, too. I'm astonished.

The drips are in a puddle round form probably due to the fact it was painted lying flat thus no runners.Probably an Acrylic based paint or actually the more i look Nail polish. Pearlesent with finger strokes probably done by a disgruntled wife.
