Thanks for posting that. The Ventures are one of the best instrumental and most prolific bands ever. They seem to confuse a great many people though. Many label them as a surf band which is simply untrue. They were never a surf band. They cut surf material including one full album of it. They were an instrumental band. In a book that I have there is a reprint of some old interviews from the late 80's with the members of the band and they talk about how they are labeled as a surf band when all they were doing was what any instrumental band would do: adapt to the new styles and make a record to keep something current in the record stores. The surf trend was a natural extension of this as it started emerging about a year after they issued "Walk, Don't Run."
