Thanks to the guys who pointed me in the right direction in another part of the board, I discovered that the thread on the Schaller pins on my 4003 are 10-32 UNC. That size is really hard to get in Australia (Ric sells them on their official website but won't ship outside the US or Canada), but after hunting around at my local hardware store, I discovered that the screw is actually 3/16" and the thread is the same as 10-32 UNC, so I'm all set to do the changeover this weekend. Just have to drill out the Dunlop pin a tiny bit to take the screw shaft, and then grind down the screw head until it fits inside the Dunlop body.

Thought I'd post this in case people are having trouble finding 10-32 machine screws in their part of the world.

All done, worked a treat. With a vice and an angle grinder, it's a 10 minute job.

I use Dunlops on all my basses and they are terrific! I used to use Schallers, but when I started losing my strap connections, I quickly switched. Haven't had a problem in many, many years. Thay have been very dependable.

I looked at both systems and decided the Dunlop were a more positive connection and whet with those. All my basses have the Dunlops.
