Tom Petty Last Night - Only Two RICs

Saw TPatHBers outdoors last night. (Boy, was it hot.)
Show started great but I think it stalled there for a while in the middle.
Tom and Mike changed guitars between every song.
Tom mostly played Telecaster and Esquire copies and a 12-string acoustic Guild.
He pulled out a FG RM six-string with trapeze and gold pickguard (with capo).
And a FG RM six-string with R tailpiece and white guard.
I don't know the exact name/numbers of those models but I know a lot of you here do.
Never saw him (or Mike) play an electric 12 all night.
Granted I left before the encore so it might have appeared then.

Sure looks like Mike's playing an electric 12 there.

That's the double-neck, same as this one I believe:

I looked as hard as I could and thought they were both 6's.
I certainly could be wrong.
He played that on a few songs.
Played a lot of Gibson 335.
Oh, I also forgot, Petty played one other RIC on one song. The small guitar with the big white pickguard. Wasn't that one of the Capri models?

Greetings. Long time lurker here.
We're talking Nissan Pavillion right? Petty played his sig model for one tune, I thought. Maybe for the last encore, American Girl. Mike played the black Ric for a couple of tunes. Yes, lots of 335 action. Mike played his Duesenberg for the one song at the end.
Man was it hot!

Yup, Nissan.
Yeah, that would make sense. As I said, I didn't stay for the encore.
The traffic coming in was horrible and I didn't feel like getting home at 2am.

The RM with R tailpiece and white pickguard was probably his 1993/12. The RM with trapeze and gold pickguard was his 1997/6. He probably used his sig model for "American Girl". In the "Live From Gainesville" DVD, Mike used that Gibson 335 a lot there, no doubt he plays it a lot when he's home.

I was there too...HUGE crowd. Tench was on FIRE!!
The 400-series Ric was NOT the capri model, it was a later 60s version.

A friend, also at the show, thought the band and the crowd were lathargic. I'm not sure we were at the same show.
Were there any amps besides Vox on stage?

According to Mike Campbell, he has a Tweed Deluxe, two other Fender tube amps and a VOX AC-30 hiding behind the Super Beatles, while Tom has a Fender amp and a Marshall half-stack hiding behind his.

Saw 'em in Hartford CT last night. The heat wave finally broke and it was a gorgeous night at the "Dodge Music Center" formerly the Meadows, which is an open in the back amphitheater type setup. Tom played a Tele right out of the gate then had his 1997 with gold guards out for "Free Falling" followed by the 1993 for "Sweet William" and "Breakdown", I think. Lots of the Guild acoustic, too. Tom also had a 450 6 I think he used on "Learning to Fly", can't remember for sure. Mike was jumping between a Gretsch, an SG, the double neck thingy and a 335 for most of the first 9-10 songs. Mike then broke out his custom JG 620/350/?? and proceeded to absolutely destroy any notion a Rick is not for lead work. His solos and lead on "Refugee" were incredible. He came out for the encore with the same custom Rick sounding completely different for "Running down a Dream" yet still equally breathtaking. He continued with the Gibson Firebird through the encore and they finished with "American Girl" with Tom on his sig 660/12 and Mike on his sig Duesenberg. Great show. Looked like they were having a blast! I was too far away to get a good look but the binoculars helped!

Yes! Same at Nissan Pavillion...that 350 (what do you call a 350 with 2 pickups??) absolutely screams! Play that for any Les Paul/Strat snob and they'd never know it was a Rick. I noticed it's got a 325v59 pickguard - same awkward knob spacing. Maybe it was custom made during the 90s sometime.

Mike's custom made RIC screams because it doesn't have a stock p/u in the bridge position. MC said in an interview a while back that they changed the pickup out some many times that he doesn't remember what ended up there. He just knows that it's 'hot'. I believe RIC made the guitar for him in the late 80's. He was using it on tour as early as '91.

I saw TP in Philly 2 weeks ago, and I think I counted 6 - Tom (3) 2 RM's and a TP, Mike (2) the black one and a 360/12 and Scott (1) A 360(?). Also,a word of warning if you're planning on seeing Tom - DON'T buy one of the $45 WHITE T-Shirts with Tom playing his RM on the front, unless you have a 5 year-old child to give it to after the first washing - BAD SHRINKAGE!
