Very sad news today....

He was one of the better newsmen IMO. In the day and age of sensationalistic reporting and pundits masquerading as journalists, he stood out. Just good questions putting the right people on the spot to get some answers. His shoes will be very hard to fill.

One of the few people in the press today who could be counted on for intelligent, meaningful discussion...RIP.

Didn't care for his politics, but at least he was one I could actually follow! Only a year older than me..... Hmmm
It sounds like there was no warning, which makes it doubly hard on the family.

One of the few intelligent guys out there who simply knew his stuff and how to interview.
If you've watched news around the world, and then you are unfortunate enough to watch the Fox muppets practice their nepotism, you quickly realize just how good he was.
Very sad.

You must not have noticed his softball questions to the libs.
And Fox at least has a few libs, unlike network tv w/conservatives. and this is not party related by any means.
Ok, no more politics. Let's just say he will be missed.

I was very shocked and saddened by this news today. He was a great journalist who knew his stuff and loved his job. I've been watching Meet The Press just about every sunday since I was in high school. It was nice to have someone, regardless of his personal politics, who could engage in intelligent, meaningful conversations with just about anyone. He was one of the best and he will be greatly missed.

A straight shooter and a guy you could go out with and have a beer. None of the others held a candle to him

Even my Republican friends don't watch Fox! But I digress....
Russert was simply head and shoulders over anyone out there.
Oh, and Happy Birthday Charly!

I was shocked. I came in from work turned on the computer and there was the news on the front page.
My wife and I are political junkies and he was our man. Watched him every day on MSNBC. He was on every program as well as his own. Tireless.
Meet The Press ...... what can be said ?
He was SOOOOO excited about this upcoming presidential election. It`s just a shame he won`t be here to present to us.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
He will be missed in this home.
As Warren Zevon said "enjoy every sandwich"

Me neither, Andy, but then I don't watch CNN, MSNBC, PBS, network news, or listen to talk or public radio either anymore. I am 56, overweight, and have normal blood pressure. I'd like to keep my pressure that way. Life's too short. Besides they all spin and slant.
