Never tried one until today. Tested it out at local GC.
Awesome. I a/b'd it with every major bass there thru SVT classic. Nothing compared. Surprised the heck out of me.

I have played a few and as nice as they are I find their tone to be pretty generic, but that seems to be what the market wants as I also found that with many other makes out there such as Spector, the better Yamahas, etc. Personally, I prefer basses with character to their tone like Ricks, even Fenders have more "personality" than most of the booteek⢠brands.

I had a Corvette Standard Fretless 4 for a bit. I loved it, but it weighed a ton, and I couldn't really justify having a fretless as my only bass (before I got my Ric bass). I was very impressed with the quality and the tone. A friend of mine has a couple of Dolphins (an 8-string, and a Pro) and they are both killer basses. They make very high quality and unique stuff. Hey, if they were good enough for the Ox, then they've got to be pretty sweet.

I've always liked Warwicks for their tone and general construction. I've just had a problem adapting to the neck shape. I'm generally not very picky when it comes to neck size/shape but the Warwicks feel extreme to me.....very thick and rounded. If it wasn't for that I'd probably have at least one.

The only bass I have owned that has developed a warped neck is a high-end Warwick. Although it isn't terminal (ie the bass is still playable), the fact that the kink in the neck can't be adjusted out annoys the living daylights out of me, such that I don't play the bass.
I loved the way the bass played and sounded pre-kink.

Hmmm...the one I tired today was called a "double buck" . Guessing because of the dual humbucking pickups. It had tons of attack which I liked very much, but after some of these comments I will probably hold off for now.

I had a Warwick Corvette Pro-Line 5 string. I really regret selling her. Nice bass. I've been looking at the Corvettes lately.

A friend of mine had a Warwick Fortress 5, and that was a bass that I lusted after for a while. Really enjoyed playing that bass. That model being out of production makes the lusting a little easier to deal with.
