I have a set of D'Addario XL Chrome flat 11s (part number ECG24) on my Epiphone John Lennon Revolution Casino and I love them! I have the same set on my 1999 450v63 JG ... sweet! I also have a set of D'Aquisto flatwound 12s (Jazz Signature Series 120) on my 1981 460 BG and it really sings ... I have always been a fan of flatwounds, having used them on my 1967 Gibson ES-335TDC for most of the nearly 40 years that I've had it.

"Gonna let you don't and leave you flat." Gary, I had a set of flats on my Gibson J50 for a while and quite enjoyed them for Beatle songs. With only one acoustic, however, I went back to round wounds for more versatility.

I've not tried them on an acoustic ... I can see how they might limit the versatility in that application.

I've made the jump to flats, D'Addario Chromes, on a lot of my guitars. I have a set of 11's on a Fender Jaguar RI and they sound fantastic. I keep 10's on my Ric 1997, 360/12v64 (pieced together set), Gretsch '57 Duo-Jet RI, and some others. I've also used them on Strats and have liked the results. I've toyed with the idea of putting them on my Gibson J-160E, but haven't yet. I keep rounds on a lot of guitars too though for the very issue that's already been mentioned: versatility. I definitely keep them on guitars that I use for '50's and '60's rock, but for modern material or for jams where I don't know what we're going to do, I stick with rounds.

All of my Fenders except my two Strats run DA .011 Flats. They give me the vintage surf sound I look for with these instruments.

I put flats on all of my electric guitars and basses! I find that it helps my instruments sound more resonantly woody, which is the sort of sound I usually favor. My preference is for TI flats, with elevens on my six stringers. They've got a nice supple feel to them, they last well, and they sound great - the only downside is that they're relatively expensive compared to your standard rounds.
