I just put on "Jammin in New York". Airline Announcement is my favorite routine of his. I've heard it 100 times + and I still get tears laughing from it.
RIP George. You were the best.

Real, real sad news. My fav guy here in the States, and without doubt one of America's most brilliant comedian's, who would touch stuff many others would not. If only there were more like him...
Oh, and remember, no "god bless" quotes for this Atheist...He wouldn't have found that funny....

"And now for the weather. Growing increasingly darker this evening." What a riot. RIP, George, the weather will never be the same in heaven.

My dad introduced me to his comedy, buying me the AM/FM album when I was in high school. I listened to that so much, savoring all of his twists of language and phrases. I finally got to see him perform a few years ago, and that was a great experience. He'll be missed. I had heard that his newest routine that he was taking around was his funniest in years and was much closer to being vintage-Carlin. RIP.

He definitely saw the world in an unusual way, and we need more people to rock the boat the way he did. Not everything he did was great, but the sheer volume of material is pretty amazing. I laughed by butt off at him!
I thought about my daughter when I heard the news, because she is just crazy about him. I think he would have liked to know that 15 year olds thought he was awesome.

He was probably the funniest man to ever walk the face of the earth. Rest in peace George. You will be missed.

i'm likely in the minority when i say that i didn't find him funny...at all. sure, lots of the 70s stoner comedians killed me, but he didn't.
however, i loved his first amendment views and advocacy.

Well, Phlem', I s'pose you wouldn't be in the minority at, say, a giant suburban megachurch, a meeting of the Daughters of the American Revolution or the annual get-together of the Swiftboat Veterans. (Ok, sorry, that was kind of a low blow...)
I bet I'm in a smaller minority when I say that I agree with every observation George ever made. I only wish that whoever gives out the Mark Twain Award would have realized he deserved it a little sooner. Hopefully they won't procrastinate the same way when it's Tommy Chong's turn...
(...or can they give that thing to a Canadian? I'd hate to see Tommy passed over for Adam Sandler...)
Anyway, thanks George...you taught us all that it's better to light a f*rt than to curse the darkness...

I am actually more fond of the later stuff than the early stuff. I think he really hit me during the 90's.

if it makes you feel better to think that politics or religion have any influence on why i think he's not funny then so be it.
he just wasn't funny. couldn't hold a candle to foxx, pryor, early eddie murphy or cheech and chong
