59(?) tulip 950(?)

Hey gang. So I took a little gamble and grabbed this, which arrived today. Can anyone tell me what year they think it is?

I already emailed the pot codes to Simmons, and hopefully he'll chime in. Is the backplate nailed on? Wow!

Thankfully the toasters seem to be original flatbacks.

The 3-way switch turns, like a pot. Huh?

Any contributions of info are welcomed and appreciated. Thanks, JD

I love it. Put it together and leave it be. That is SO cool. I'm thinking a '59.

The setup with the rotary switch is fine, I know of another one made like that from '61...the tin nameplate as well... but the lower horn is more cut out on the '61, not a true tulip.

This guitar has a tapered heel like my Tenor Guitar....neat.

Dog, you gotta be tired of it by now....

Just like the heel on a 4004. so that is where it came from!

When John is done with it, send it to me, please. 8)

Nice, Jdog!

IIRC, a 950 is 3/4 scale, right?

Here's the back of my 950 Tenor, the heel is similar to JD's with a bit of a taper....it's really not as square as it looks in this pic..

Neat!

Yep, 3/4 scale.

I'm glad we didn't hack it up either. I can't wait to hear the pickups!

Nice score. If you wan to keep the tuners, here is how you fix the buttons. You can buy the white buttons at various parts distrubutors.

Take the tuner off and secure it in a vise.
Heat the end where you'll stick the new button on with a blowtorch until hot.
While still hot, push the new button on and hold it in place for a few seconds. (don't breathe the smoke)

Repeat until they're all fixed and bob's yer uncle!
