4001C64s finish type

Paul (or whomever else might know),

the c64s obviously has a different finish type than a 'standard' MG; what type of finish do they use on the body and fretboard of this model?

as the '66 1999RM i just picked-up has been subjected to the same over-zealous sanding as Macca's, i'm thinking that a proper sanding and protective satin finish similar to that of the c64s model may be a more authentic/Heideggarian expression of the instument's history- as opposed to a FG refinish...

thanks-

I think it is just sanding sealer and nothing else, just like Macca's is/was.

We've done 'em two different ways since I've been at RIC..

One has a Satin Conversion Varnish, and the other has just a couple of sealer coats. No discernable difference between the two whatsoever, be it in appearance or longevity.

I thought that RIC used CV as a sealer coat, Eric. Is it different on these? This is a lacquer or vinyl-type sealer?

Yeah, operating on old info...it was on one of my first factory visits that JH told me about the CV as a sealer. Now, it's...what?

Same stuff I use, though probably not the same brand...but this is as durable as CV for a final topcoat? Say it' ain't so, Joe!

We use TTC... It is too matte for a top coat, but a top notch vinyl sealer and CV top coat nonetheless!
