Welcome, and very cool, reminds me of a Moserite. I think maybe that's where Ibanez got the idea for their "Iceman" series, as I always though they resembled a 4001 upside down, with a few angles added.

That body shape's coming perilously close to infringing Yamaha's trademarks!
Although if you put checker binding & a toaster on yours, I'd sign up!
Jon.

Jon, weren't those early 80s models, I remember seeing the guitar version of that being used by a band and thought it was a Moserite at first. This was like 1983, I think.

Yamaha built the original SB basses between 1967 and 1971:

The SBV like in the pic Jon posted is from 2005 IIRC, sort of an updated reissue, but with Fender J pickup locations and a long scale.
Some people say these basses were hit with the ugly stick, I think they are cool.
Welcome aboard, Kira!

Thanks, guys, for the warm welcome. Ha ha, my lefty will remain only a dream as I could never butcher a Rick! I couldn't sleep for days after I added a Bigsby to my 1982 jetglo 320!
I'll keep you posted on any other wacky Rick concepts I dream up. If the voices would only let me alone...

Welcome, Kira. I was expecting to thoroughly dislike your 're-invention' of the 4003, but surprisingly it works in a weird sort of way.
It would have KILLER neck dive, though!

This isn't Photoshop - it's a pic of an actual bass that was posted on this forum 3 years ago:
And by the way, the idea for the Mosrite Ventures model started when Semie Moseley flipped over a Strat and traced it.

I can't make out the maker's name on the last bass photo that ilan posted. What is that? I find it esthetically intriguing (cool) as well as the yamaha models. But to play them, I bet there's no comparison with a rick.

Welcome, Kira!
Your hash-up is very cool in a sort of caricaturish way. There are great caricatures and bad caricatures. Yours is the former, IMO. The idea of a caricature is to exaggerate the most memorable features of something while retaining the DNA in order to capture a simplified essence that communicates the soul of the object at a glance--yours fits all these criteria, and fits them well!
The brand of that one in Ilatch's post is "Killer". The only thing that appeals to me about Killer, is the body silhouette, and that's a Rick knockoff. The maker's choice of details is atrocious and ill-advised without exception, from the dumb neck extension and the abbreviated and badly-shaped guard, to the terribly-proportioned headstock with its cocked tuners.
The old saying that "God is in the details" could never be more appropriate than in this case.

You would definitely have to get one of those Hipshot(not "dipstick")solidbrass bridges to help counteract that neckdive.

That's about what I figured. Ahh, true love is much more than just skin deep. I've not actually owned a Rick bass (I've been a Gibson girl) so I would be happy if I could get my hands on any decent 4000 series number.
I know the drill: save money, lots of it and keep my ear to the tracks. When it's meant to come it comes, just like my 320 with which I just celebrated our 25th anniversary (I and my 320, that is).
Thanks, everyone, for the humor and warmth. Especially the humor. I'll try to restrain myself...

Ilatch???
btw, "Ilan" is pronounced "Elon". And Lukatch is the hungarian variant of Lucas. Tho original spelling is Lukács, and it is pronounced /ˈluːkɑːtʃ/ by most English speakers.
