Hi everyone. It's been quite a while since I posted. I'm heading off to NYC soon and I was hoping I could get some recommendations of "must see" music stores in Manhattan. Of course, a shop that features lots of Rickenbackers is just the ticket!

I recommend you employ the services of "Biscuti Guitar Tours" of New York..........first class service!

JB gave you all the highlights, but it's hard no to mention 48th street between 6th and 7th Ave.

Manny's (owned by Sam Ash) has a lefty JG 4003 with new inlays, and I might have seen a BG 360.
Sam Ash has a few nice Ricks new and vintage
and
Rudy's always has a few RIcks

Also....
Ludlow Guitars has a couple of Ricks on the wall....I think they have a ruby 4003 right now
And if you are on 30th steet...across the street from 30th Street Guitars is Rogue Music...10th floor...I forget the exact address...
and in that same building on the ground floor are an olde timey radio shop, and a place that has TONS of analog synths.

also also....I Know Guitar Center Sucks.....but.....
the one on 14th street has a bunch of vintage Ricks that do not seem soooooo expensive since the price bump on new Ricks.

Thanks for the plug Graham, but since I raised my fee from one Pastrami sandwich to two, I've mostly been trolling the guitar shops alone.

I'd get you unlimited pastrami sandwiches , but i was made to promise that this vacation was a vacation from Rickenbacker and other guitar talk. She did compromise with games at PNC Park and Yankee stadium.

48th street between 6th and 7th Ave was much better before Sam Ash bought up Manny's. There also used to be Alex Music, which also carried Ricks and We Buy And Sell which always had several used Ricks. There also used to be 48th St. Custom Guitars and a small Electro Harmonix shop to try out and buy their effects pedals.

I remember before they closed 48th Street Custon Guitars had 5 or 6 4003's in the window lots of COY's.....
That place was like a museum....

Me too; it was there that I saw a Rickenbacker bass for the first time in person (still haven't gotten over it).

I wanted to thank everybody for their good advice on shops to visit while in NYC. As a Canadian, I can't go into a couple of shops within a block and see a 350SH, a 660/12, some 330s, some 360s, and a vintage combo 400 (I think?) on stands waiting to be tried. It was a real treat that I enjoyed immensely. The staff at all places - Manny's, Rudy's, W 30 Guitars, and Sam Ash - were all very nice and I got to play a bunch of fanstastic guitars (including some non Ricks). It was a great place to soak up some NYC vibe too. Thanks for the tips.

Has anyone here done business with the shop on Bleecker St - Matt Umanov Guitars? I’m curious to know you’re opinion.
