Hi,
First off, we're real new here and would like to say hi! We're from Tulsa, Ok. and play. Secondly, for my wife's birthday on this coming July 5th I bought her a 4001CS without covers on the bridge pick up. After asking all the questions that have brought me here I am asking all of you for help. We need the covers that will fit this bass. I am informed by Kenny at RIC these were unique to this bass, and should be around, I just need to be patient,O.K. So I am....but should anyone have or know where they are please let me know. As a guitar player I understand why we took the covers off of humbuckings, and I guess this is more a comfort thing..I would have prefered to alter my technique to accomedate the covers where they were..but that is a practicle sounding non-bass playng statement..so please let me know if and how, and we'll go from there.I want to put them back where they should be, once and for all. Yup, the wife got her a sweet bass, as you guys know..only bass I've ever played/seen that made me jealous!
Thanks, Pete 8) and Stephanie

Welcome!
The horseshoes you are looking for are unique to the 4001cs V63 and C64 basses and as a spare part probably as rare as Rockin Horsesh..... Shoes. Those who have them will probably put them back on their basses at some time and so will not sell them as a spare.
The other sad bit is that Rickenbacker don't seem to support parts for their vintage stuff for anything more than a toaster pickup. But they probably have their reasons.

You may be able to get someone to reverse enginner one out of stainless steel or mild steel and then get it chromed but that could prove costly too..

Complete Horseshoe reissues turn up from time to time but be prepared to pay up to $500 for them.

Bit of a bummer!

Did you get the CS from Japan?

If a guy had some he removed from a 'C' bass and was going to sell them (in an effort to buy a vintage Rick) what are they worth? :) You might want to PM me...

No, no Japan, I saw that one though. This one came fron Pennsylvania, up in the Blue Hills Mountains. Beautiful bass,, no covers or certificate. I got a letter from RIC though, it's legit and lacks the covers only. thanks for the hellos! pete 8)

I have received this email from Bad Ronbo who asked me to post this on his behalf. He is having trouble logging on. You can find his email under members. His username is BAD RONBO, KiLLeR DWaRfS

With regard to the search for horseshoe covers he writes
"I have a set I bought in '85 from Mr. Hall when they first went on sale around June of that year that they might be interested in."
