Here's a treat for lovers of vintage Rickenbackers (and vintage prog rock): French-language TV special with 30 min. of Genesis live performance and interview from 1973. Some very cool Ricks. Peter Gabriel in a rat mask and red evening gown. The ever-smiling young Phil Collins. Doesn't get any better than this.
Good resolution and sound and you can download it too.
Just for you, guys: put this in your iPod and smoke it ...

Yes it does. I saw them a bunch of time in that era!

Starting in April '72, their first US tour. Did I mention the time I had a nice long chat with Phil discussing the LLDOB recording process before the album came out or the backstage pass I got from him for the TOTT show in town?

Thanks for posting that! Stunning! I saw them the next year at a lovely theater in Chicago. Definitely one of the best shows I ever saw. We sure don't see enough men in rat masks and dresses nowadays, alas.

Nothing special, really. A couple friends and I headed down to where Genesis were staying (Keg & Quarter) and waited. Once Phil showed up we started asking him questions and he graciously sat down with us and ...

Phil told us about their plans to go spend time in a cottage to write and record their next album, which turned out to be LLDOB. Back in those days, most bands were very friendly and willing to spend time with their fans. I won't bore you with the details of what Rick Wakeman had to say about Roger Dean, or about jamming with Jon Anderson.

Oh sorry, forgive the distraction. When Genesis was in town for the TTOT show (two nights) I called down to Music Hall looking for Phil; when they got him on the phone we chatted a bit and I asked him for a stage pass which he provided. I went by myself that night, then I went back to see the second night's show with a friend; I have a recording of that show.
