How good a deal was it?

That's a pretty good deal, Red with B/T are pretty rare especially in such good condition with pickup cover etc. and in my opinion the best looking Ricks. A pity the original bridge in no longer with it as it does devalue it although the black hipshot is the best looking I've seen on a Rick.

Nice snag. Was thinking about it, but I'm quite content with my '87 Ruby/BT. Yours is so much cleaner I was thinking of buying it and selling mine. Glad it found a good home and I didn't have to agonize over a decision like that!

Yeah, sometimes it's a relief when someone else hits the BIN. It resolves the issue dramatically.. hit refresh and DOH!

No, it should be (and must be) a 4003. Seller prolly didn't know the difference.

Thin neck, discontinued color, discontinued trim option, good deal!

Mr. Twistle has had a few pseudonyms since arriving at the RRF. He must have something to hide...

Any idea which is more scarce - red w/ BT or Ruby w/ BT?

I'd guess Ruby.

Ruby came standard with white trim and chrome hardware, so Ruby with black trim is rare. Same for Red which came standard with black trim; Red with white trim and chrome hardware is rare. About this same time, Mapleglo came "standard" with black trim and it cost $50 to "reverse" the trim to white/chrome!!!

Hey look! That one has a Dipstick bridge!

Also, red/BT is teh uglee. Fortunately uglee is only skin deep in this case so have Paul W convert it to a *Glo Abomination.
