There are a lot of jokes to be had with that one...but I'll refrain.

I love it when they get a chance to show their sense of humour....a good appearance! Although I could have done without the last commercial break, or the interruptions...

"Have you ever written a song that was so long that by the end you were influenced by the beginning of it?"

I though the interruptions and commercial break in the middle of the song was poor production and direction of the show. Why didn't they just go to commercial break first, then let Rush perform? :? The segment was horribly produced and looked stupid in my opinion. It was good to see Rush though. No wonder why bands like Rush avoid TV. I do wish Geddy used a Rick.

AMEN, I said the VERY SAME thing!

I couldn't believe they broke for a freaking commercail in the middle of the song!

But, like Joey said, it was good to see them on TV.

THANKS DAVE for the heads up, otherwise I would have missed it....first time in 33 years on American TV, no WONDER I don't watch TV much anymore!

Well, they at least made it into a joke, with Colbert going to sleep at the end. On a show like that, the format is very constraining.

Great interview though! "I don't want to see that hand on eBay!"

i would imagine that the percentage of the fans of that show who are rush fans is minimal, therefore cutting to a commercial during the song had no effect on the actual segment.

I don't know about that...what did Bill O'Reilly call the 'Daily Show'/'Colbert Report' demographic? Stoned slackers?

The editing was obviously to emphasize the running joke of Rush's ridiculously long songs. When tonight's show started Rush was still onstage and finally finished the song. Get it? They were playing it for a whole day.

I got the joke, just kinda wished they hadn't done it, unless they played La Villa or Xanadu, which ARE actually LONG.
